Cold weather jump starter for school buses--hand held.

This jump starter is designed for extreme weather starting of large gasoline and diesel engines. PowerStream has worked with Lokithor to design a jump starter that works.

Running a bus with a frozen battery won't thaw the battery. When you stop the engine, you will need the jump starter to get it going again.

*Since the market for these is driven by output current specifications, our competitors lie to the skies about peak current. So it is impossible to look at peak current specs on a web site and compare one against another. PowerStream is using our own testing and reputation rather than participate in specsmanship. A quick review of ohm's law and the power law P=I^2*R would show that companies claiming 6000 or 10,000 amps would melt their jumper cables in a white-hot pile of slag.

Reviews: Havre MN. Here is a school bus with a Caterpillar C7 441 cubic inch diesel engine. The temperature is -23°F, -31°C. The bus's batteries are frozen solid. He is using 3 of the J402s in parallel. It turns over like "a weed eater." The J402s powered two grid-heater cycles before attempting to start the bus.

Review: North Dakota. At -18°C we started a 6 liter diesel International service vehicle that had no battery in order to drive it to the shop for repair..

Field Test 1: At Flaming Gorge UT, a diesel school bus with an old battery, at zero degrees C, wouldn't turn over on its own. Just clicks from the solenoid. After connecting the Lokithor J402 the bus started immediately.
