Q: I don’t have 60 watts available on my 24VAC line, is it OK to operate the PST-AC2424-2A at lower powers?
A: Yes, you can use this converter at lower powers. The power supply module will only draw the power it needs to supply your load. Of course there must be enough power (watts) available on the 24VAC line to power your load.
Q: How can you regulate the voltage so accurately with such a wide range of input voltages?
A: The PST-AC2424-2.5A is not just a rectifier, it is a fully configured switchmode power supply with a wide range input centered on 24VAC. With the current and voltage feedback loops in the switchmode circuit, the output voltage can be locked solid. This makes the output voltage independent of input voltage or output current.
Q: Does the rectifier add noise to the AC line?
A: No, the sine wave of the AC line is not distorted by the PST-AC2424-2A. Thus you don’t have to worry about noise being transmitted to other devices connected to the 24VAC line. However, most other rectifiers do distort the AC power considerably, especially half-wave and full wave rectifiers.
